In terms of which songs I like, this one is my least favorite. It was the most difficult to put together. I never really liked the idea of putting together "band" instruments (winds, drums, guitar) with FL Studio, since it takes a great deal of time and effort to tweak them so they don't sound obnoxiously synthetic, hence why you don't hear a "real" piano* or trombone in there, and why it took a long bout of internal debating to keep the trumpet in there (which I kept low in the mix, anyway).

But enough with my griping. A jazz song was another piece that I wanted to put together for a while, and I'm thinking about doing more. This was originally intended to be a piece written for a fight/chase scene with a Rat Pack era comedy feel** at 230 BPM. Of course, once the English 1310 assignment came around, I had to adapt it to a "nocturnal stroll" feel, including knocking the tempo back to 200 BPM.

As the rest of the pieces, if you'd like to use this in a flash, movie, project, etc., go ahead and contact me. Creative Commons is a blessing, isn't it?

*That, and the ePiano synth fit the style better.
**I don't want to say "screwball comedy" outright.

about

Highlights from the Essay:

"The skyscrapers reach to the heavens, as the Babylonians once aspired to. There is no night, for here, light is eternal. There is no need to part water to reach this Promised Land. The bridge is long, sturdy, and majestic. There is no need to pit brother against brother. Both produce and livestock are plentiful and popular in this land."

WELCOME.
I truly believe that music is the most expressive and effective outlet for emotions, thoughts, and ideas. With this in mind, I consider the assembly-line, money-first musical culture that surrounds me to be a disease. I intend to avoid this disease by whatever means brings peace to my conscience. ... more
